Butter / Cheese Tray
Butterboards.
Like all my cutting boards, it has been finely sanded to 220 grit, then the entire board was wet with water to allow the surface fibers to swell as they would with normal use and washing. After allowing the board to fully dry, it was sanded again to flatten those raised fibers. This process is more time-consuming, but it greatly reduces any “fuzzy” feeling the board will have from use and washing in the hands of the final users. Once I’m satisfied that the surface is smooth enough, the board is treated with several coats of a mixture of food-grade mineral oil and beeswax. This provides a rich luster to the wood, and provides a measure of resistance to water penetration. I include detailed care instructions with each cutting board to maintain its beauty and usefulness throughout years of use.
