About The Albany Craftsman
 

The Albany Craftsman, LLC is the public woodworking business “face” of John Mikkelson. John has been a professional woodworker for over 15 years, and amassed another 20 years of varied woodworking experience before becoming a professional. He brings a keen eye for clean designs, and an attention to detail, that ensures his works are timeless and worth holding onto.

Since moving to Albany, Oregon in 2004, John has sought out sources of the beautiful woods that grow native to the Pacific Northwest. (Or which - like Oregon Black Walnut - have become long-term transplants like himself!) Using local woods minimizes the carbon footprint of each finished item, and that has remained a priority of John’s over the years.
